new knock sensor no diff?

Recently I installed a brand new knock sensor in my car because I have been getting the 0304 knock sensor code. It was HELL installing the knock sensor w/o removing the intake manifold, but at the end I felt that it was well worth it....BUT........after the installation of the new knock sensor, I still got the 0304 knock sensor code, and another code to go with that. The 1005 code which is the EGR Soleniod Valve. I looked up in this and really can't find anything about it. Can someone please help me with my issues on the knock sensor and now the EGR thing?

Did you bother ever reading the stickies or FAQ's when you joined this forum? I didnt think so because if you had you might notice that you need to RESET your ECU.

I had this same problem...My KS was brand new..replace your EGR solenoid valve, and both codes should go away. Also check last page on how to stickies.

0304 is a ghost code anyways. Unless you could feel the lack of performance it probably wasn't your KS. Keep guessing....

The knock sensor code can get thrown when the EGR or O2 sensors get thrown. This is a "ghost" code which means the knock sensor really isn't broken. It's just a flake out the ECU does sometimes. $20 says you just replaced a sensor that didn't need replacing.

well i did test the old sensor, and got no reading, but then found out, on my ohmeter, it wasnt the right setting, so basically i screwed myself over....twice!!! first with the ohmeter reading, and second, buying a new new knock sensor.

Well, you could always sell it or just hold on to it in case of a future KS failure. They are known to go bad.

Are they really known to go bad or is it just a ghost code....

Look at all of the knock sensor posts, and how many people have chaged em with no results?

hmmmm

I have a buddy whos is a mechanic for Nissan/Infiniti and he's told me numerous times that they are known for going bad. Simplest thing to do is just test the KS if you suspect it being bad.
