I thought they were D2S, but i also find on many stores that D2S is for projection lenses.

And that D2R are for reflector, which did you buy as a replacement?

I really have no idea what you are talking about. Are you talking about light bulbs?

well, what kind of xenon hid kit do you have? you would only buy a D2S/D2R bulb usually if you had an OEM ballast (like a 2002-2003 maxima HID headlight). I'm guessing you have an aftermarket ballast, which usually has these male/female pair connectors. So you would need a set of xenon bulbs rebased to a 9004-style bulb, unless your ballasts actually came from a car manufacturer?

They both have a D2 base but the D2R bulbs use a metallic strip that protects from unwanted glare. So the D2R bulbs are used in reflector-like applications and the D2R are used in projector-like apps. If you are looking for a brighter bulb go with the D2S but I highly recommend you do a retrofiit if you haven't already. They are really too bright for our wimpy reflector headlights.

As for your question, usually if you blow a bulb, you can use any kind of bulb that is D2#. As long as it is from the same base.
