Those chip alike looking things are actually the LED's. Replace them as you would any LED. This mod requires more experience with the solder gun. If your not to experience I suggest you look someone that is as you can damage the IC (chip) on the other side of the PCB if you trasfer too much heat to it.

Contac "wariow" Via PM he might be able to help you out. He is the best person to ask.

All I know you need to clip the LED"S that are in the back, and use the current connecters that is left over to reinstall the new one. You need to know how to solder it. It is very hard.

Yeah, really good write up. I wish I would have seen that about a week ago. I "fk'ed" mine up. The windows still work, but I screwed the PCB up so I can't solder to it. Oh well, I think no light is better than green light.

on the pcb just follow the trace runs back if you can and see what they connect to, than just jump a wire from there, or run straight to the plug, use a meter to find the power for the light and a continuity tester between the different pins and a ground on the body somewhere (like the hinge)

Good call, I actually did that on one of the front door LEDs (still brushing up on my soldering technique). I will prolly do that on the rear, I got tired of messing with it for that day though.

I did mine like the pic below. The long lead you see is the positive lead and the shorter lead is the negative lead going to the stock resistor. I used black electrical tape to cover up the old contact where the tiny stock square LED was. It doesn't matter if the resistor is on the positive or negative end of an LED as long as it has one. In the case of the rear switches, this was the only way they would light up.
