Can i disable my factory alarm? It cutoff my Fuel!

Well i think i was hit with the factory alarm glitch recall i suppose...when i try to start the car it wont start and the red alarm light led stays on while im trying to start it..so i suppose my alarm cutoff my fuel...is there anyway besides going to the dealer to bypass this? i mean any way! i dont want to shell out the 150+ for them to reset a alarm they should reset for free...

Get out of the car, close the door, lock with the key, and unlock with the key. This will reset the alarm if it is triggered.

Bumping a thread from 2004 is a good way to get banned. OP is an immobilizer issue. 99 is the only 4th gen with immobilizer, and you have a 97. Post your own thread with a descriptive title and you will recieve more help, in this thread you will only be flamed.

Yes, I know this thread is from '04, but if another n00b finds this, they need to be set straight.

Your options at this point are:

1. Use another key
2. SOL - Have another key made

The NATS is only responsible for recognizing your key and activating the fuel pump, your key fob, hood, door lock alarm will still work without it.

To by pass this, read what I wrote above, there are MANY ways to get around it.

Not going to help at all.

Again, not going to help at all.

False, it kills the fuel pump, the starter has NOTHING to do with the alarm, the starter circuit is extremely simple and all you need for it to work is a working battery, and a working wire harness and relays. NOTHING ELSE, when I say nothing else, I MEAN IT.

That's not a trick to anything, it's just one of those things you happen to do while the problem is being solved elsewhere.

Sometimes the Nats can misread an old key and immobilize your car, at this point in time just take your key out and re-insert it.

I would think you can put your car into the on position a for a a second or two you can hear your fuel pump, then it stops. That should tell you I would think.

Correct. Turn the ignition to ON, and make sure you have no stereo blaring or anything, you should hear a whine lasting a second or two. That's the fuel pump working, getting ready for the start.
