Mother of all Y-pipe threads

There are about 4 posts per day pertaining to Y pipes. All of which are asking the same questions. Which one is better, which one sounds best, which one is cheapest.......etc etc.

DYNO GRAPH with Budget Y pipe. You can expect the same gaines with all other Y pipes.

Manufactuers of 4th gen Y pipes:

-Cattman

-Budget

-Stillen

-Warpspeed Performance

-Custom Maxima

Now, stainless steel is the absolute most durable and long lasting of the three main types of exhaust. (SS, Aluminum, Aluminized Steel). Some of you may ask, will it be cheaper for an exhaust shop to MAKE a y pipe? The answer is no. If you can BUY something pre-"custom" made...it will most likely always be cheaper that way.

Mandrel bent is also the absolute best in bent pipe applications. A mandrel bender is a large machine in which a cylindrical guide is placed inside pipes with lube, and slowly bent to perfection with NO creases in the pipe. Therefore making exhaust flow un-restricted. I'm not done...

Yea, thats a flex joint. Honda liked to use them. Both do the same thing. Honestly tho, the flex pipe is better, it obviously has more flex. And it isnt going to steal HP or hamper flow. different isnt always better. Marketing ploys...

I agree with Oblongshapes the flex is necessary. When the car shifts, it puts less stress on the pipe. If its solid it could start to wear on your Trans and Motor mounts.
