Bad strut or mount? 4th gen

My brother came home for the holiday and under the hood where the driver side suspension mounts, the center of the strut ( the piston portion that sticks up in the middle between the 3 triangulated mounting bolts is not centered, its leaned to the side where it is rubbing?

I tried to relieve tension buy loosing the nuts on the top mount and lifting the car but nothing. It makes a long noise when the strut is under pressure. Now he doesn't know sh* t about cars and i gotta go fix it. Now is the piston of the strut bent or maybe the strut mount gave way. Any ideas or suggestions.

If it is the strut, where is the best place to go buy a kyb agx strut?

Thankx in advance for the help

That shouldnt effect the centering of the shaft in the upper mount.

ya, it was my max, till i gave it to my brother, i did the install itself, but since he lives in long island i gotta go there and fix it in one shot and it would be a downer if i had to be a new strut if not needed. The strut mont is the original one, so i think it has deteriorated.

the part that's broken is called the strut insulator. It's about $40 online or $60 from your local dealer. You've got to take apart the strut assembly to fix it.

I had a same problem, replaced the upper mount and strut bearing, was done by Turbomax95.

i litterally had the exact thing happen to me with my suspension this past summer. Turned out for me i had 2 blown agx's on top of 2 bad strut mounts. im 100% sure its the strut mounts in your case. Pick up 2 new mounts and a new pair of strut bearings while your at it.
