Just had a set of Brand new Kumhos
mounted on my 99se stock wheels
Apparently they cant balance a tire
for crap the car shakes at 70 now
so im gonna take it back today and have
them do it over also i checked the tire
pressure in the tires and everyone had different pressure seem like the only way to get anything done right is to do it myself.............

Word Of Advice

Always double check the air pressure and the lug torque when you have tires done at a place like Sears. I used to work in Sears Auto Center (Sales) back when it was a decent place to work. I knew all the tire installers. They would never check the air pressure and would torque the lug nuts until they wouldnt tighten anymore. I have seen many customers come back complaining we warped their brake rotors. Also, in the balnacing area, be careful. The guys are in a mad hurry all the time to get the jobs done, and the wheel balancing job usually shows that. Plus consider the fact that the machine gets heavy usage, and are not maintained like they should be. Chances are, even if the tire guy did the job right, (doubt it) the machine could be at fault. Try to shop elsewhere next time.

For those of you who work at Sears Auto, sorry if the truth sucks. I used to work there too.

Please defer judgement on Sears' competence until you have more facts. With Firestone so much in the news, we are becoming more aware of tire manufacturing defects. It is possible for a brand new tire to be slightly out-of-round. It is possible for a brand new tire to have non-uniform stiffness around the 360 degrees of rotation. These tire defects will produce on-the-road vibration but will not be detected by an ordinary wheel balancer. The latest generation of wheel balancers use "road force" measurements, and will reveal such defects. For more information about this kind of balancer, see http://www.craigautometrics.com/huntergsp9700.htm.

Ask Sears if they used a road force balancer. If not, ask that your new tires be re-balanced on a road force balancer.

Took the car back and told them i wanted them rebalanced , so they did it and now its better and they did use a torque wrench on the lug nuts
