y-pipe questions

1996 5spd se

my exhuast appears to be leaking around the resonator near the middle of the car. I've wanted to get a y-pipe for a while and I think this might be my excuse(my dad is against modding cars). I've got a couple questions that he's been asking me about the y-pipe, and some of my own.

O2 sensor: he wont disconnect the O2 sensor back there so he wants to make sure an aftermarket pipe has a spot for it

Cats: I think the y-pipe eliminates a pre cat or two, can this cause the main cat to get clogged or cause car to fail emmisions?

how far back does y-pipe go: Would a y-pipe even replace that section of the exhuast?

install: how difficult is it?/how long does it take?

horsepower: I've heard gains of 18 hp on dyno, are these real???

which pipe?: I want a cheap stainless pipe without that bees in a can noise

other mods: what exhuast should I get? something non-ricey, cheap, and not super loud.

FOr the most part there is gonna be a spot for the o2 sensor

it will cause your car to fail emissions unless you warm up your car before the testing for about 30 min and leave your car on untill your all done with the testing

the y-pipe goes to about right between your shifter and are rest i believe

its shouldn't be tooo difficult to install if you have the right tools. like a jack and some wd -40 to get rid of those rusted bolts

for the most part that is only with a combo of a cold air intake

i would say if you want cheap go with budget....and if you have the cash go with cattman, stay away from warpspeed i hear it gives you the bees in the can sound.

Greedy sp2 i hear its good. or just have the exhuast shop custom bend one for you
