Which y-pipe goes the best with the Greddy SP2 as far as sound, the budget or the warpspeed?

WS aluminized Y
When it was first installed, some bees in a can but as soon as I put on my 2001 anchor wheels, the noise stopped and hasn't come back.

The bees in can were only on WOT from 0- around 30 and only in 1st and 2nd.

I have concluded that the extra unsprung weight has preventing some of the engine torquing on WOT, preventing it from hitting the cross member. It may have made the initial 0-14 mph a little slower but I haven't noticed it.

I have however noticed that from 2500/3000 -redline, it pulls a lot stronger. Highway passing rocks now.

From prior research, I would say go with Budget SS because it's cheap and no bees in a can. All the problems that members have been having is with the various aluminzed steel.

I am NOW happy with my WS but if I did it again I'd go Budget SS.

I think I paid 160 shipped in the GD and struggled my *** off to put it in...damn Northeast rusted bolts. Gotta love the torch...But it is probably up there as my favorite mod behind my HID's.

good luck

About a year ago I got the best y-pipe they offered from Warpspeed, SS, Mandrel. It was ~$300 shipped. It was an exact fit and I've had no problems with it at all. I also wrapped the pipe to reduce the noise/beesinacan. I just installed my LSS SS, Resonated, Mandrel B pipe and was suprised at how well it fit. All I've read was how there are BAD fitment issues with any B pipe. Mine fits close to perfect. I spent like $500 but I wanted the best. My next car will also be a 4th gen and I plan to transfer my exhaust.

Warpspeed Aluminumized

Got it for $160 shipped Group Deal. Got what I paid for... Did not fit well as far as clearing the crossmember and whatever else it was banging on. Now I swear i can hear an exhaust leak at the flex section. It could be the b-pipe, and if replacing that this week helps, then nevermind on the flex. But after how many y-pipes they have sold, I would think they could extend the pipes .25" down because it seems to be a very common problem.

this is probably going to be of no help, but a friend of mine got a pipe, the useless part is I dont know what kind, and there were severe fitment issues, like 1/4 off on holes...

I have a ws aluminized y-pipe w/lined flex, stock cat, and OBX cat-back. I had the y-pipe on for about 2 months before I got the cat-back, and I can tell you that I have had zero problems. When I first put the y on, there was a bit of noise, but it went away within 5 minutes of driving (probably PB blaster burning up under the car lol). There is no buzzing, rattling, nothing. I'm very happy with my WS y-pipe. I bought it on ebay for 199.

the y-pipe is the only bolt on i don't want to have issues with... the exhaust i did from WSP... and i had an exhaust shop fix it, not a big deal... i want my y-pipe to last awhile, because really it determines how well your exhuast sounds... given you have a oval muffler, and resonated b-pipe...

i don't know if i should get the top of the line with cattman, and pay close to $400? or settle with a LSS for about $200...???

i just don't want to get the LSS, and it have problems, then i would have to deal with shipping it back, and calling, and more money... just not for me... i hear good things about it, but is it worth it?

i bought a used cattman, had a new WS previously, that thing was hitting something, and was showing signs of rust after a month of having it. bought a cattman after i sold my WS, cattman was 2.5 years old. the welds were the only thing that showed rust. anyway, the fitment was perfect, sounded awesome (low noise, slight hum). it didnt have as much noise as the WS did, the Ws was noticable to me at idle.

go with either the budget or cattman. if teh budget is just like the cattman SS, then id definately buy either one of them, obvousyl the cheaper of the two.

i have a warpspeed, not SS, but i love mine.

no fitment issues, it went on just as easly as the stock one would. Not much noise just the exhaust leak i have is kind of loud but nothing bad.

have had it for about more than half a year and it went through alot of salt since im in UTAH, but no rust. still looks like new. paid 160 for it and got great service from warpspeed.

I have warpspeed aluminized steel y-pipe. Paid $160 shipped I think, GD pricing.

No fitment issues at all. It installed perfectly and works perfectly.

Budget SS pipe. Fits perfect, only complaint is on deceleration there is a bees in the can noise. I believe it is due to the mechanic installin the pipe. He had a hell of a time getting the stock one off that I believe he was so frustrated he basically just threw the Budget pipe on as quick as possible so he could get the import out of the garage lol.

Ahh well gives great power that's all I care about!

Stone Racing 2 piece y-pipe. Sounds great, no problems with the install. No bees in a can noise, just a nice deep tone. Get compliments on the sound of my car all the time. It does drone somewhat in the 3k range but it doesn't bother me. Paid $140 I've had it on for about 2 months. Live in South Carolina so rust isn't really a problem. Just had the car up on jacks to replace an o2 sensor and the y-pipe still looks brand new.

For those with the Greddy SP2 catback, will the y-pipe make it alot louder. I have the Greddy SP2 and the injen cold air intake and I like the way it sound, I really wanted to get that extra power gain from the y-pipe but I'm worried that it would get too loud. Will the y-pipe make it that much louder? Where can I order the puget ss y-pipe?

alright so i finally got a job, harris teeter... i no, shutup, but i'm gettin paid well, i guess. but my decision lies within 2 pipes after readin this thread. the budjet ss, which i don't know how much it goes for, and the custommaxima y-pipe for 250, cause i didn't really hear any neg things about it. i think i heard the CM pipe at idle and revin. sounds a bit raspy i believe w/ the stock exhaust.

so is there any sound improvements from the budget at idle and high end? i have a stock exhaust, custom b-pipe i think, and a CM race pipe.

I have the Budget Y and Budget resonated(Magnaflow) B pipe and stock muffler combination. Great noise levels while doing normal driving, no droning at all. It won't drive you insane at WOT. Nice little rumble at idle.

Stillen Gen 1 Y-Pipe

INSANE bees in a can. Bought a flex section from WSP and had it welded in ... MUCH better. To those who are having fitment issues with y+b, I had my b pipe shortened when I had a resonator welded in ... I think he shortened it by 2-3 inches maximum ... no more rattling, no more hitting anything ... I'm on the stock muffler with a test pipe and I think my exhause sounds great. Not the best, mind you, but it suits me just fine.

Sweet! This is the setup I want, nice tone but not loud enough to be heard from down the road.

Anyone with a CA spec Y? Impressions? I'm thinking about getting one but the fact that it only removes 1 pre-cat makes me wonder if it's gonna be worth it.

Go to a Menike... how ever that muffler shop is spelled, anyways they'll charge $50-$100 depending if they need to do any other labor other than the simple installation.

Then again you really cant mess up a Y pipe installation... even a trained monkey knows how to take off 02 sensors and a few bolts... and monkeys with blow torches can be a very funny site

This is INCORRECT. Many (if not most/all) Meineke shops are individually owned. There is a Meineke here in Tampa with one of the most experienced exhaust guys I have run into. Older asian guy names John ... he's FANTASTIC. Fixed all my ugly sound problems with my exhaust.

Just curious how many people after getting a Y-pipe had to take it to a shop to have a new hanger(s) or something fitment related welded on?

Or was it truely *** easy as take off old stock y-pipe bolt up new one and done?

Agreed bro... They have great mechs, you can even go under your car (a few feet away of course) and watch them closely as they replace the pipes. Not only that it only took the guy about 15 minutes to do my header installation when I used to have a Corolla. Anyways as far as hangars, ask the guy at the muffler shop (one that would do the replacement) if the hangars are bent, hangin low, or rusted if so then have them replaced. It's better to do it all at once. And also Meineke replaced my hangars without charge when I got bigger piping.

budget y pipe. paid about $180 shipped...got it about two summers ago, no idea how many miles. had rattlesnake sound right off the bat which i hated. wrapped it in DEI header wrap, is still quiet but the wrap has since shredded and looks ghetto. overall i like it i guess. never really felt huge increase in power to be honest, but then again i don't really drive my car that hard or race.

Price: $200.00 Canadian

they say this is:
Part Number: M9599YFED - Polished

i have the warpspeed after first purchasing the full header y pipe setup (STONE RACIN) from ssautochrome. Needless to say the ss system did not bolt to the stock system and was about 1.5 inches off from either flange, as well the item was supposed to be a direct bolt to the stock manis. the flanges were also slightly off kilter as well. It was returned and they did refund the full amount.

The warpspeed presented 0 problems, was a direct bolt and took me approximately 1hour to drop the stocker again and place the ws on alone. Of course i had a lift and a muffler jack but it was a seamless operation and required no help at all. Perfect sound, and with the cai i added at the same time it drastically altered performance with VERY little change to my exhaust note, i love it. may consider doing a full catbak later but the gains are outweighed by the price apparently, ill go for a im and ecu first.
