signs of starter problems

hey guys i was wondering what were the signs of your starters going bad. my brother think his maxima's starter is going bad or is bad. there was a period where it would not start. but now it does start. just post up if you have any input. thanx

re-greasing it with high temp grease can do the trick. if not take it out and bring it to autozone or anywhere else they can test it.

we took it out last nite .. real easy. he is going to get it tested today.

Mine is inconsistent. Sometimes it starts really fast, sometimes it starts after a few cranks, sometimes it starts and it sounds like it wants to die. Make sure it's not the battery.
