CV-Joint boot (left)

I need to replace the left CV-Joint outer-boot on my 96 automatic. Are there any pointers I need to know about before starting it. I have already bought the boot. I have already tried to take off the 36mm hub nut where I have broken three 1/2 socket wrenchs and one breaker bar, I am just going to take it to a local tire shop and have them use there impact wrench. Beyound removing the hub nut is there anything I need to look out for?

Pry it out of the tranny, be carefull not to cut the seal. After you get the nut off, disconnect the strut as well so you can swing the hub assy. out and pull the shaft out.

Wow, I swear I posted this exact thread a coupld months ago. The only difference is that I only broke 2 Craftsman 1/2 ratchets and I also split 1 socket. At that point I gave up and paid a tech at Big 10 Tires $10 to get it off in under 5 min. I assume you are following the instructions on www.motorvate.ca? Good luck, everything goes pretty fast after you get that nut off.

no man you dont have to take it off now the hardware store sells a boot called a "quick boot" it works well for being a replacement boot al u have to do it cut off the old boot and put this one on top of it and tighten about 5 screws
yea i knwo its kinda cheep but unfortunately if the boot on your car has been broken for some time than the cv axle is gonna need replaceing soon anyway
just so that u knwo i read above and figured that next time you wont have to go throught all of the pain and heart break :P
and they go for like 7 bucks

thats the first thing i looked for but the thing is that "autozone" could not find the one that fit my car. So what i did was that i bought the one that looked like the best fit but when i put it on my car it didnt fit. So i ended up taking out the axle. Now that i took off the axle its not so much of a hassle as i thought at first.
