for anyone who has lip spoiler

I am planning on getting a lip spoiler off ebay soon. I've seen the spoiler just flat black plastic with no paint and it looked fine. I was thinking of getting that new krylon fusion spraypaint, doing a lotta layers and then about 5 layers of clearcoat. has anyone done this? Should I keep it flat black or just get it professionally painted. sorry i like ghetto-ing things out. its my thing. thanks.

you mean like stillen front lip? or the actual spoiler that goes on the trunk? either way if you use spray paint, learn to wetsand, that will make it look decent.

hmm wetsand. hard thing to do? i was just going to run it over with 1000 and 1500 grit to smooth anything out. it is plastic so im hoping no imperfections.

wet sand is not hard, just keep the surface wet and get a HIGH grit sand paper, should get pretty good results if your practice a bit before hand.

and yes dont forget to prime and sand after prime and over again about 3 -4 times to get nice smooth surface. just make sure you get a paint that will adhere to plastic, and if its urithane, make sure it wont spider crack if it gets flexed

I wouldn't use the krylon fusion IMO it's crap. I tried that stuff on some plastic and it reacted bad and never really dried it left it tacky like it almost melted the plastic or something.

i do plan on using the fusion bc i've heard some good things about it. Also, maybe you should have put on a couple coats of clear?? could've helped with the tackiness? I'm also guessing you sprayed it on thing plastic. it is called fusion and it claims to fuse to plastics, so there definitely has to be some sort of chemical reaction and very small degree of 'melting' . Just my thoughts.

I am speaking of the lip spoiler that goes on the trunk and not the front bumper.

I have a black car, so I doubt any glossy black wouldn't match. [i may be wrong] I'll be spraying my grill first to see how it goes, if it looks like a pos, i can always buy a new grill on ebay

are you talking baout a a little trunk lid lip, or a spoiler? if you are talking about spoiler it is to big. i would go to a body shop for that. But if it is a little trunk lid lip then you can do it yourself.
