Hey

I have a fourth generation maxima and I am trying to install the y pipe today. Problem is, how do you get the front stone shield of the car at the front of the y-pipe. There is only one bolt at the bottom and it snapped when I tried to unscrew it. I used wd-40 but it was rusted all the way through. Now what do I do???? It is Sunday so no muffler shops are open in my area to install it for me.

Thanks
Paul

If a sizable stub is exposed you could use a solvent on the rusted threads and then grab the stub with a stud remover. If no stub is exposed you have little alternative to drilling it out. Use a hardened drill bit for this job, and use eye protection while drilling.

WD-40 is lousy for rusty bolts and nuts. Liquid Wrench is much better for penetrating rust.

Kroil and PB Blaster are good for this too, but they cost more and are difficult to find.

Look in Lowell

I went to a place in Lowell, MA called All Pro Exhaust (or something like that). I found them in the phone book. The owner charged me $70 to install my new Cattman SS Y on my 98 SE. I'm totally satisfied with the installation!
