rear brake pad install help caliper piston
so how do you compress the caliper piston to put the caliper back on over the pads? its pissing me off!! i know im stupid but somone just tell me how to compress it please thanks
There is a tool that you can get that helps spin the piston. Some people use needle-nose pliers to spin the piston back in, but that takes more effort. Be careful and use some lube that will keep the rubber seal from tearing when you twist. I think that tool is about $5.00.
take the cap off the master cylander. use needle nose pliers or the special tool ( they sell it at sears and all auto part stores) and twist it clock wise until u get it in far enough. it is a pain doing it with the pliers, i did it that way the first time then i bought the tool. you dont need to touch the bleeder. dont forget to put the cap back on the master cylander!
Anyone have a problem with the e-brake stuck engaged? I live in UT and its been pretty cold lately and it the mornings my driver rear caliper its stuck, I can hear it when the cars moving and my e-brake handle is really lose, no effort need to pull the handle. after driving for about 10 mins the e-brake miraclously returns to normal, pressure in the e-brake handle, humming sound gone. Should I replace the e-brake assembly or is it just that caliper?
