Gauge cluster question

Gauge cluster question
I'm installing new gauges and I'm behind the cluster. All wires are unclipped but still have a grey ring holding all the wires. How do I unhook it? Also, does anyone know what wire I can splice into to illuminate the gauges?

you dont have to take the needles off to put the gauges on. to take the cluster off do NOT take off the clear plastic piece from the black cluster area, just pop off the hinges that connect the black cluster to the actual gauge (push in with a screwdriver all the hinges one at a time and it should slide out with ez.) i spliced into the power for the old gauges, but the indigo gauges take a lot of voltage(they will take time to warm up, they dont common on as soon as you turn it on). i had a problem with them at first b/c they wouldn't come on. but what i do is, turn the light switch **** to the one before your low beams come on and wait like 20 secs and switch on the gauges(they come with their own on/off switch) and turn the **** fully to low beams. hope this helps
