Help changing rear brake pads...

I orderd my pads and hardware kit online and they came in yesterday. I am looking thru the parts I have and for the rear there are a lot of little parts here. I have shims, pad retainers, some grease goop stuff and some other metal parts. I know what the shims and pad retainers do, but what the hell do these other parts do?? This is a nissan hardware kit too..

thanks
Cris

The grease is for reducing braking noise (squeals, etc).

Were there really that much stuff? There's 2 pieces that go on the backs of the pads. Then the other 3 pieces go on the bracket holding the pads: 1 towards the front of the car, 1 towards the back, and 1 above the pads. These are what the pads slide on.

The grease, as far as I kno, go in the sliding pins held by a rubber boot.
