Hello

I just want to say hi to all my fellow 4th gen maxima owners. I just purchased a white 1998 GLE 5 spd this week and I will probably be spending a good deal of time in this section of the forums so I can learn as much about the 4th gen as possible. My previous max was a blue 91 auto and she treated me very well so am expecting nothing but good things from the nextone. well thats about it, see you all around

gsmith

The only way GLE's came with a 5 speed is if someone swapped one in... so if the previous owner changed from auto to 5 speed...

You are the proud owner of a VERY rare 5 Speed GLE

You would look in the faqs to learn how to tell. May as well read the rest of them while you're there.

I think that a couple early models came 5 spd. from the factory, but definately not as late as a 98...do you have white guages?

Only GXE's and SE's came with 5 speeds

My GLE came with Bose, climate control, heated seats, black leather, fake wood... but no sunroof

An easy way to tell if you have an SE model is the SE model has white faced gauages (tachometer, speedometer, gas, temp). The GXE model has black faced guages. The SE also has black trim around the windows, whereas the GXE has chrome trim.

well in that case i must have the se because i have black trim around my windows and white face gauges, and if its true that there are no 98 gle 5 speeds that confirms it. thanks for all the help guys

White faced gauges? Definitly an SE. That's not bad though, SE's are awesome...wish I had a 98 SE instead of a 96 GXE.
