I was just wondering if their was a way to Un-dim the Digital Clock with the Headlights On. I (for some reason) think my car looks much more agressive with the headlights and fog lights on (even in broad daylight) and it's very hard to read the clock during the day. Even when I adjust the dimmer switch, it has no affect on the clock. It only dims the radio. I would like to make the clock brighter, if there is a way. I think Andi had done something like this in his old '97 SE. Any help is much appreciated!

If you want the clock display to remain at high intensity when the lights are on...

1) Remove the clock. This may be done with a small flat-blade screwdriver. Insert the screwdriver blade between the lower right hand corner of the plastic dashboard clock panel and the adjacent softer dash board. Slowly pry the panel up. Continue this at all four corners of the contoured panel until the metal snaps which anchor the panel are loose. Remove the panel by pulling outward and downward.

2) Note that the clock's electrical connector has four wires. Cut the wire which is red with a blue tracer.

3) Install the clock panel. It just snaps into place.

Thanks alot Daniel B. Martin!! I just did your procedure and it worked...and for a little extra comfort I put a piece of electrical tape on the ends of the cut wire. Thanks too for your input dch, but I didn't want to add another switch.

Thanks again Daniel B. Martin!!

I have a 2001 GLE. Is the clock wired with the same color code to make this mod. I would like for my clock to stay bright during the day with the head lights on also. Enjoy reading this web site. Thanks for any help that you might give.
