keyless entry question

I just bought a 98 maxima GLE and the previous owner was "unsure" if there was a keyless entry function. He did not have a keyless remote but I was wondering if there is a way to tell if this feature is available and maybe the remote was lost at some point? If my car does have this function is there some way i can buy a new remote and program it to work with my car?

If it's a GLE, it would be set up for keyless entry. In 98', I believe all maxima's were set up for it. I would search for a remote on EBAY. You can usually find a good deal.

I also have a 98 Maxima GXE with keyless, when I arm the car the lights blink. Is there a way to have the horn honk also...looked in the manual but didnt cover anything about keyless entry.

usually it comes with alarm with keyless entry if it's from the factory. u can try locking the car using the key with windows down and wait for 30 secs. Then unlock the down from inside and open the door. It should trigger the alarm.
yes u can buy the key fob and program it. make sure it's the same gen.
