Passed a Maxima with freakish hood ?

The other day I passed a maxima parked over in a parking lot, here in New Zealand. What caught my eye was the hood that was on it. You typically see these type hoods on Mustangs but I was lost as to where or how they had such a hood on a 4th gen. Has anyone ever heard or seen this ?

example:

Ye, something like that had to be custom made.....but why? Could it also have been from another car and had body modifications done to make it fit??

What, something like a cowl induction hood?
If it was a mild cowl induction design I dont think it would be too bad.

Maybe a Sarona hood?

Edit: Crap I forgot your in NZ now... I doubt someone will pay shipping all the way down there for one of those... but like said up above.. maybe it was a cowl induction hood... although it wouldnt do anything performance wise for our cars... other than maybe get some heat out from under there.

Older mustangs (after oil crisis) are not fast stock. Period. You can mod them to make them really, really fast with a few bolt ons and maybe some cams. The 99+ are when they started to get faster stock. I still don't think they are good cars except the 03-04 Cobra. I guess I see too many V6 auto chickstangs to really have some appreciation of them. Anyway very

That hood would have had to be custom I would think. Aren't the Maximas over there in NZ the I30/Cefiro body? Have you seen too many other modded maximas? I can't see the pic too well. Does it have some kind of fins as a reverse hood scoop or something?

Do they have the VQ25DD or VQ20DD or some engine with Direct injection? You may be able to get something started with possible seeing if this swap is possible or worth it.
