Climate control noise..

Turn on climate control..and then I can hear a fluttering..like a ticking as if something is touching the fan..the odd thing is that when I increase the speed of fan..the noise goes away..but so damn annoying..any quick fixes? I don't even know where the fan is..

it's under the right side of the dash, and probably has some trash /leaf down in it. 2 or 3 screws should get you in there, so you can clean it. pita the 1st time you do it.

same thing here mostly on speed 2 (acc) pulled it down, didnt notice anything but some dust so started cleaning it off and noticed a couple of broken blades...not missing, just cracked. ordered new fan will be in in a couple of days...40$. oh and a tip, theres a 10mm bolt on the dash down near the passenger kick panel, take that out so you can pull the dash away a bit to drop the motor.

I have this same problem, and yesterday tried dropping the blower out of the car to get a look at it, I couldnt get the fan assemble to drop past the cross member that holds the bottom of the glove box to the dash. I did remove the nut mentioned above, but could not get the dash to pull forward enough to have the fan drop down. Is there a trick or secret to this? I also am interested in getting a new fan assembly, especially if it only 4o bucks, I was expecting quite a bit more, where do you find that from, was it online or just a shop?

the fan was ordered from southern states nissan in raleigh nc. i think its like 42$ or so, the whole fan assembly(fan and motor) runs about 170$.

raw toast:the cross member only has 2 (3?) phillips screws holding it in, than with that 10mm bolt out you can pull that section of the dash away and the fan will come right out.

fan should be in wednesday, ill post back and let you guys know if that fixes the "tick"

the blower motor is actually the black part w/the hose going to the side of it. unbolt that and the fan wheel is attached. check the tips above to ease the pain!

While The Motor Was Out Did You Look Up Into Heater Box/fan Hole To See If Anything Was Sticking In There? Some Times The Smallest Thing Out Of Place Can Be The Culprit.

See if this helps you get everything apart - I have never done this but will probably do it before summer.
