99 Maxima - TRAC & ABS light came on..then went away.
Sorry for the vague title, but I decided to put the main info there so people would get a rough idea of my problem.
Here's the story:
I have a 99 Maxima GLE with a completely stock drivetrain with 87k kilometers.
I had two wierd issues occur in the past two days:
1) Yesterday, the car wouldn't start up. It would initially fire and then stop. It wasn't the battery since the car would actually fire (or attempt to) a few cylinders then shut down. This occured for a minute or so until it finally started up (reluctantly). There was the smell of unburnt gasoline in the exhaust. At this point it seemed to drive fine wiht full power.
I assumed this to be the cause of faulty coil-packs. Since a few months earlier I could feel odd vibrations while idling which I've heard is a symptom of faulty coil-packs.
Anyway the car seemed fine until the next day....
2) so the next day, I started the car up...which it did normally with no issues. However the TRAC light and ABS light came on. Which I thought was wierd. So I backed out of the driveway and wanted to see if the ABS actually worked or not. As soon as I slammed the brakes on the icy road, ABS kicked in normally and the TRAC and ABS lights went off. The car seemed fine after that.
Tomorrow I'll check the ECU codes.
Anyone know what the issue could be? It seemed really wierd that the TRAC and ABS light came on just like that and went away.
