I still think a 96 grill with mesh (preferable painted black with few layers of clear coat look the best)

I'll demostrate when I get my sand paper and sand down my mesh and paint it up.

if you cut the bat the right way there is still plastic left that you can paint black and then mount the black mesh to it

Looks good geo1317! I'm curious as to how you achieved that smooth finish on the vertical end pieces after you cut out the center bar? Looking at your close up pics the end pieces look really smooth.

As for the problem with seeing the plastic grillwork underneath thats a given with black colored mesh. If you paint it silver you won't see them anymore but black is a more agressive look than silver IMO. I would suggest using plastic screen door mesh laid over the grillwork.

when you cut the front bar out, how did you cover up the cut. sand it down then have someone professionally repaint the side bars?

Have any of you made your grill from scratch AND used it as a Replacement for the stock grill rather than just covering over the stock grill? Can you show me pictures of what that's like?

The S5 is a total replacement, doesn't just go over an existing grille. Only mine was sandblasted to remove that played out chrome look and painted to match to the rest of the car. And since its for a 97+, the grille had to be trimmed to fit. Fully custom, nothing like it on a 95.

What's your beef with me, think what you want to think...you are starting a controversy! I know my car better than you obviously, you can do anything you want to your car and so can I. The mods done in the pic can be found in the stickies, except for the S5 grille. Perhaps you need to read thru all of it instead of criticizing. You can tint any clear lense any color you want. Heck it'll even look blue if you put a blue bulb behind it. I just chose to be different from the usual smoke tint people have been doing. And I've done my homework before doing those mods. If you really know photoshop, then you know that there is a color shift whenever you export a photo from PSD to JPEG, BMP, or any other format. It can be tweaked but I don't want to put too much time into posting a photo. I had to resized the photo in photoshop because my digi-camera is a 3.5 megapixel, but why am I explaining everything to you anyway! Your pissed at the photo probably because it's something you will never accomplish in your teenage life. Anyhow, the hue you see in the lenses aren't that accented in real life but I guess it appeared so in JPEG format. Heck the car looked bluer in photo that in real person. HAHA, 85% transparent made my entire car photochopped...cheaaaa right Shirlock. Your the ****ing bright one! Anyhow, the car has been repainted Smoke (custom paint) with a subtle bluish hue and I smoked the lense to sorta match it up, even the headlights. I know its illegal but my ride isn't a daily driver. Before the S5, I got a 97+ grille and trimmed it to fit my 95. I used that same principle to fit the S5 on it but more work was needed and the bottom brackets where changed a bit to align the grille properly. If you really want to see my car, drive to Vegas and see for yourself. I've been lurking and I have seen haters in here and on the other hand I have seen people do the most mediocre mods and been praised pages after pages. Try the blue LED mod (hint hint) on your ride, it might match your personality. Stop trying to bully a newbie. Get of your *** and take pics of your own ride instead of hating on others. I will take more pics as soon as the rain storms subside.

BTW, the headlights aren't 97+! I just did the AE mod on it. You seriously need a pair of glasses. I think you took the photo too personal.

As I have stated below, I made the 97+ grill fit my car before. You need to trim about 3/4" off of each leg at the bottom. The 97+ grille is taller than the 95 one. Anyhow, I quickly got tired of it and did the S5 one. If I find my old modded 97 grille, I'll sell it to you.
