So im on the highway and try to engage cruise control. The green cruise light just flashes really fast. And the cruise does not engage. Anyone have any suggestions. Is this a vacum leak?

 

I had this happen to me once when it was raining hard and my car was slipping with the cruise control on.

The blinking did not go away until, I restarted the car.

i had the same problem, it was diagnosed(sp) as a bad cruise control computer/chip? everything was fine for a year and now i dont have any light come on at all when i try to engage.

do what i do now, go to a mechanic that will find the problem for free, then try to fix it yourself. i do this with a local mechanic and if i cant fix it i bring it to him

 

Do you have a check engine light? I have the check engine light on in my car for the vehicle speed sensor (code 0104 I believe), which works with the cruise control and when its not working, the cruise doesn't work.

I tried replacing my sensor, but it didn't fix it, so I'll eventually take it to a shop. Hopefully you'll have better luck.

 

So yeah. I get back in the car today and set the cruise and it now works. Kinda weird if u ask me
