i recently bought a black 99' GXE 5spd because i wrecked my last one. I had to drive to go get it and it was origonaly from FL. There seems to be alot of sun damage - not enough to stop me from buying the car esp. since it was the only one i could find within 500mi. The main problems seem to be...

1."foggy" headlights
2. faded/discolored trim (org chrome)
3. same wierd "fogginess" on the clock
4. peeling winsield wiper paint
5. fadded rear speaker covers
6. coroding steering wheel

Now i know most of these can't be fixed without replacing but i thought just maybe you guys had some tricks to fix fading - esp the first 4.

I had thought about painting the trim, maybe black, b/c today i saw a black SE or maybe a GLE that had all black trim, grill piece, and door handles and it made me wonder if i could do the same. If I tried this what paint would you recomend? I esp think the wipers may need some sort of different paint.

Thanx for any help, its great to come back to this board after so long.

Wiper arms are easy. Just take them off and hit them with some flat black. That happens on pretty much all cars as soon as a year or two.

I don't know if the headlights can be attributed to UV, or if they can be cleaned that well without pics. Same with the rest... kind of have to see the damage.

Not much help, sounds like a mix of bad parking and cleaning products considering the car isn't that old.

edit - yeah check out detailing

On #2, they sell some blackout trim tape that I have on one side of my car. It looks pretty good and hasn't faded in about a year. I bought 1 role at Autozone but havn't seen it since. I really need to look for some again since only one side of my car is done.
