so driving home today my 98 i30's service engine soon light comes on. no changes in the way it drives just that light is on so i come home go inside for an hour or so and go out to check it and the best i can count i get 0513 which i had a few weeks ago without a light and also which is not a code so i reset it and it goes out ok no big deal but now whenever i push on my brakes the thing lights up for a few seconds.??
any ideas?

 

"the best i can count"?? Hehehe - sounds like you don't trust yourself with numbers. Perhaps you studied the flashes backwards, and the code is actually 1305 (fuel pump control module)? But you say there was no change in the way in drives, so that's unlikely. As for the brakes kicking the SES light on, I have no idea.... weird stuff.

hmmmmmmmmm ok mabye i read it wrong and it was 0510? which is an o2 sensor. does anyone know if either autozone or pepboys will read codes for free for me?
