ECU stays in two different diagnostic modes in 95-99 Nissan Maximas, Altimas and Sentras. Read the link below for details.

All you did is fix the problem but didn't reset the ECU properly. Were you doing it manually by turning Self-diagnosis screw or you were using a OBD-II ISO scanner tool?

I will simply reset it once again and the light will be gone.

You reset the ECU? ....no wonder why it's 0505 now. Wait a few days and check it again to see if the other codes come back. If not, maybe it was a fluke.

To reset ECU follow the steps below after accessing the Self-Diagnosis screw on the ECU box which is located right to the gas pedal. You will have to open that small black cover. Make sure to read the warning sticker over there. And be gentle on that screw and don't apply a lot of force.

1) Turn the selector screw clockwise to its stop
2) Wait 2 seconds
3) Return by turing screw counterclockwise to stop position
4) Immediately repeat steps 1, 2 and 3

ok i was getting 0705 for about a week (this is an big code that points to a million problems) then yesterday i got 0903 ( this code has something to do with the canister on the leftside tire) so i presume that 0903 is a sub code for 0705 (the codes are linked..meaning 0903 will trigger 0705) so last night it was raining so i decieded to drive in a big puddle of water under the left rear wheel (i did this because someone was saying how dirt can trigger the problem and clog sensors) now today i got the code 0505 meaning no problem ....so i can only conclude that the maxima holds code like the 0705 & 0903 and when the problem is fixed it tells u by giving u 0505 -nofailure (0505 is a code that rechecks thebad codes..........please some input if i may be wrong....i just did some google research and found that after people have a bad code ...and they fix the problem the computer would then say 0505 to let them know the problem is fixed ......thanks for u input!

Randy your assumption is correct.

You got your 0705 fixed by driving through the puddle which might have cleaned debris off the EVAP valve at left rear wheel area.

Now 0505 is generated to let you know that ECU have found no failures. Just follow instruction I have given above in this post and reset your ECU. All you will need is a smaller tip flat screw driver and be gentle to that screw.
