Knock Sensor In

Installed the knock sensor, I feel a bit of a difference (seat of the pants acceleration is somewhat noticeable) but not as much as when I cleaned the throttle body, the IAC, replaced the fuel filter, and air filter. Hopefully gas mileage will improve too.

My hand is torn up, didnt realize it was that tight of a fit. You have to let go of the claustrophobic tendencies when in there. I was glad my hand came back out! I found it was easier to get a box end 12mm in there to loosen it up and replace. I felt I needed a bit more peace of mind so I took the extra time to get the socket, universal, extension, and ratchet on it to tighten it up. The original was throwing the code and the old sensor's casing was also cracked when I pulled it out.

Hopefully I wont need to do it again anytime soon, my hand looks like crap. Those razor blade like intake gaskets or whatever they are, sure are sharp.

My two cents, nothing more.

I hear ya, I had my ultra skinny friend and his smallish hands get in there and do the hard work. 20 minutes later, I was melting my tires.

Look at jerryromenissan.com . He has knock sensors in the factory box for $114 shipped, and generically boxed ks's for $85 shipped. I bought the generic boxed ks, but haven't installed it yet.

Immediately after I installed my knock sensor, I didn't really notice a big improvement in my sluggish acceleration... After about a week or so I could feel all the power back again, it was kind of weird.

Most people feel the power right away, though, so maybe it varies.

Ive seen ones that are supposed to be oem on ebay for about 80-100 pretty regularly. Is this not such a good idea getting it from ebay?

I got mine from eBay, it works just fine...

Just make sure it's a genuine nissan part and it should work out well.

You need to reset your ECU if you don't want to wait a week for your computer to relearn the timing and fuel maps. If you reset it starts adapting right away.

Ebay

I got my knock sensor offof Ebay form what appeared to be a private seller. It was $89 shipped. When it arrived it was an OEM piece. I reset the computer before starting the car up again. Like I said it does run a bit better and hopefully the mileage will be higher with the next fill up. I would have probably noticed more of a difference if I didnt clean the TB, IAC, and replace the filters a few days before.

1/4 in ratchet with a 12mm socket, and a floor jack handle as a breaker bar.
