integrating small shift light into guage cluster
ya i know its rice, but so what, im bored and need something to do...
i want to drill some small holes in my guage cluster and make a built in shift light using some LEDs. how would i go about hooking these up? do i need to get some kind of brain or computer that taps into the tach so that the lights know when to come on at each of my shift points? what do i need to know to get this to work? also, would the LEDs have to be resisted?

I know some one has done this on the org, just dont remeber name, think its blk95max ot somthing. You'll need to either get a summit rmp switch and run the led of a relay. Or fab up a circut board with a chip and tap it into the ecu tach singal, no I have no idea how to do that. Look up the DIY A/F guage on google to see what im talking about.

Araffio is the one who has done this. im looking for his webpage but i cant seem to find it Well he wired up an a few leds to the guage cluster. Was pretty sweet.
EDIT: http://www.cardomain.com/id/araffio thats his site but he has taken down all pictures off his site.

harlan has a rpm brain that you could use and attach the leds to that, you can get a tach signal from behind the guage cluster or from under the good, by a coil pack I forgot exactly where, I think the one under the hood is easier to get to and tap into.

ya ive seen the videos before...where do you think im stealing the idea from?
as for an RPM switch? which is the one i aways hear complaints about? the harlan or the summit?
so let me just get this strait. the RPM switch taps into the tach behind the cluster, then the light does into the switch? or do i need another brain that connects to the switch to determine when to turn the lights on?
