That's cold weather for ya! You can go synthetic if you want, or just give it a minute to warm up and drive easy for the first few miles while *all* of the fluids get warmed up.

Thats a hydrolic clutch for ya...I deal with the same thing every single morning. If ya dont like it switch to a cable clutch ...

Try some synthetic Redline oil in your tranny..it helps alot

Screw you Bijan. I don't know about your car but in Duck's car the pedal is so damn soft you can't even feel you're stepping on it. I have amsoil synthetic in and whether it's 70* outside or 10, it feels the same.

My clutch pedal feels a little mushy, however over the last few days it has been in the -15c to -30c range (5 F to -22 F for those who do not know the celsius scale) - yeah... uber cold!

I park my car in a garage but when I start it up in the morning, I cannot get the shifter into ANY gear! The clutch gives me no resistance until it is a few inches off the floor.

If I try hard enough after sitting there for a couple of minutes, I can get into "A" gear (not always 1st) and get the car moving. Once I am moving, even though it is difficult to get the shifter moving between gears, I can. If I am coming up to a stoplight, I have to put the shifter into 1st before coming to a complete stop otherwise I cannot get into 1st from Neutral if I stop just using my brakes.

After about 30 min. of city driving (shifting constantly) it starts to shift normally again...

I have never experienced this problem with my car before! A couple of months ago I had the same problem, except that I could not shift AT ALL even after driving the car for a long time! The dealership said that I had a leak and replaced my clutch hose AND master cylinder (???) - that was the last major change to my tranny.

What could be wrong here? This is definitely not normal despite the extremely cold temps., is it? Could I be low on fluid? Could there still be a leak?

The nearest thing that I have done to working on my tranny is replacing the axles. Are there directions posted anywhere on how to bleed the system?

Although in this -15 degree weather I might be better off taking it to the dealer! Unless this is as easy as bleeding a brake line I think I would rather hang onto my fingertips and not have them fall off in the cold.

But I would appreciate directions so that I can gauge and decide if it is something that I can do in this weather in my garage even.

I feel your pain, I live in North Minnesota ( duluth ) and i know what your talking about with the sticky shifts and pedal feelings weird. I did some research and found that other people that had the same problem put in Redline MT90 and all the problems went away. I decided to give it a go and i was very impressed. the shifts where smooth and the clucth was back as if it was 60* outside. I'd recommand getting synthetic Redline MT90 fluids.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention... I have had Redline MT90 in my tranny for 2 years now. The tranny is 2 years old itself. I did a flush in the summer and refilled with the same...

So knock that one off the list for me. I am betting on the air in the system and am hoping that it is an easy DIY.

But for the rest of you guys with regular fluid and a sticky clutch - yes I would highly recommend Redline MT90. In fact I might even switch to Amsoil Series 2000 (might be better than Redline in these extreme cold temps.)

My only question is - do I NEED to take the intake off to see the lower bleeder or is there any way to do it without taking stuff off?

I cannot see it if I peek down in that area... much less get a 10mm wrench in there!

you'll need to take that intake off, I tried looking too and could find it at all, its close to the starter and the intake completely overshadows it so yea, you'll need to pull it off, might as well clean the TB while its off.
