I can't get it off! My fingers hurt and my interior suffers more and more cosmetic damage as I try.

dude it just pops off...ive taken my dash apart like 400 times..theres 1 screw on the left and i think u have to have the shifter surround plastic piece out also but u might not....but the right side of that ashtray its like clipped on and u have to tug is from the left kinda pulling it towards u and to the left a lil bit and it shud pop offf....unless person that had it b4 u broke it and like superglued it on or sum shyt??
