UDP install: strap wrench?
UDP install: strap wrench?
I'm getting my UDP this week. I'm not too woried about the install, but in the Hayne's manual it says to use a strap wrench on the pulley to hold it when getting the bolt off. Those who have installed one how did yall get the stock pulley off? Or could I probably rent one from Autozone or Napa?
Thanks,
Mooney

I don't really trust jack stands when I'm under the car. What I was planning to do was to put the front wheels on ramps. Would I still have easy access to the pulley?

Taking the pulley off isnt hard to do. Unless you dont have an impact wrench.
If it's never been removed I can almost assure you that you'll have to heat the bolt before it comes off. Heat for like 2 mins with a propane or Mapp torch. Then impact the bolt off.
You might get lucky with hand tools. you might not. then you waste hours and get nowhere

To get the bolt off, disconnect the ignition coils, put the socket on a breaker bar, put the socket on the bolt with the end of the breaker bar on the ground pointing towards the front of the car, crank the starter.
The starter will have more than enough torque to break the bolt loose.

I had no problem stoping its rotation with my hand. If you need a bit more friction tighten it down a bit and then put the belts on. Once the bolt is torqued you should re-tension the belts.
