Whats up with my heat? cold air coming from vents

The other day i started my 99 max se and turn the heat on as usual. I went back inside and when i came out 10 minutes later the fan for the heat was blowing, but cold air was coming out. I took a look at my temperature gauge and it was reading that the car was warmed up. I then started driving and once i began to acceleratek, hot air was coming through my vents. This is driving me absolutely insane. I hope i don't get stuck in traffic. Can anyone help me with this problem.

Check your coolant level. It's probably way low.

Yup! Change your t-stat, with a Nissan one from Nissan! Do not get one from Autozone or some other POS part store unless you want to change it again in 6 months. Do it once, do it right.....

Nissan one was cheaper than autozone, kragen, or pepboyz here.
