my maxima's steering feels kind of loose compared to other cars i've driven. is there a trick to stiffen the steering while also retaining power steering?

Good tires, proper alignment and ES buchings are about the only things you can do to help steering feel.

There was one person that replaced the steering rack with a different one, don't remember who. It was expensive though. Krismax is planning to put in an electronic PS pump ,which will allow him to adjust how much steering assistance it gives. We'll have to see how that goes. It will also probably be pretty expensive.

i recently noticed that my tire pressure was low in my tires and when i added some air wow it felt so different. car rides real stiff over bumps but the car responds so much better to minute changes in steering input.

There was some talk of this awhile ago, but nothing ever came of it...not really sure why.
