well i was turngin into a parking lot off a pretty main road and well once i hit the snow the car wouldnt turn. so i put on the brakes and kept turning(my mistake) and i hit the curb.(with the wheels turned) and so now im wodering what kind of damage can i expect..? i know MY NEW! strut is blown by the "smoke" gas that was comming from the wheel. and im guessing the axle is broke. the wheel is slightly slanted. lemme know what you think the damage is and/or how much to fix it. PLEASE HELP.

glad to hear your ok.

best bet is to take off the wheel and inspect.

but how fast were you going?

could be broken axle
bent control arm
bent rim

not sure what to expect to fix but be prepaired to shell out some money, dont know if you can find 1 replacement struts but look around and ebay you might get lucky.

their is nothing oily on the driver side, ( I dont think ) how is the car sitting? doe that side with the blown strut sit lower? ty pushing down on it and see how it bounces back, thant could help confirm a blown strut.

oh damn you in IL so Its probably waaaay too cold (duhh you said in the snow) to pull off the wheel and check it out, did you drive home? or get it towed?

My roommate just did this to his car. He was turning, lost traction, kept the wheel turned, nailed the curb flush and fuked his car up. Turned out he broke the control arm, the strut bar, the wheel was demolished, pushed the wheel so far back it destroyed the rocker panel. The only thing that seemed to be ok was the cv joint and the strut but those were replaced to be on the safe side. Hope you make out ok on this, good luck

same thing happened 2 me but everyone flamed me. i hit the curb at about 4mph and this is what was broken in my car

axle
control arm
bent rim REALLY bad (cuz i went 2 get it balanced and they said the rim was too bent)
front struts
wheel bearing.

if you hit just as slow as me i gurantee you everything is completly effed up, your car will prolly never drive the same again... mine doesnt. my totall repair cost was about 700 bucks. i kinda got ripped on the struts tho i got 2 kyb gr2's for 250 installed, def. get 2 new front ones. the control arm installation i also got ripped for 200 for the new arm plus installation. then i paid for an alignment, a new axle and new wheel bearing. also towing was 100 bucks for me.

i knew my accident would come in handy.... Im me on AIM > gettcrunnkkked

Not laughing at your misfortune of your car... just your luck on here after they flamed you.

What to check and inspect that might have been broken or damaged...
Axles
control arms
sway bar links
strut
damaged wheel bearing

a wheel shop should be able to fix and balance it back for you.

www.car-part.com
www.jerryromenissan.com -new but probably more costly

as for how to, if you have the haynes manual it should have something on it, I'm sure someone on here has the info a few people have done it lately, or period and can tell you
