problem with upgraded harnesses.........need help badly

hey i have a problem. i had the stock headlight harnesses and i had 80w bulbs in them. the left side got burnt out, but the right side remained normal. i had bought nokya upgraded bulb harnesses. they were on for about 3 months, and after 3 months i noticed the left side started to cut off again. i took a look at it and realized the harness blew out again. it was all burnt and ****. now i have the stock bulbs in on the upgraded harnesses.

when i had hooked it up i cut the three original wires and connected them onto the new wires and taped each individually and then taped them together. i do not know if that is the correct way to hook it up but there were no instructions. can u guys please help me. should i get it checked out by a mechanic, take it to nissan. need help please. any info is great. oh and please dont burn me, still a newbie.

Try to find the thread from JSUTTER 9007 bulbs upgrade (about couple months old), which I am doing soon; basically you are supposed to get, make or buy an upgraded harness better than just the one that you got which is useless because is only a tip ..the socket and small wire, so almost same as stock; the upgraded wires are taking power from battery and only week signal from stock wires. I am getting harness from btnk on ebay which seems to be a decent harness for $31.94 without bulbs. if you are getting the same mention him you are from the org, so you get that price (about $5 less than ebay). This is the only way you can use over wattage bulbs, otherwise you will keep blowing bulbs and burning harness.

That is a horrible way of making electrical connections. The best would be soldering, but crimp connections aren't too bad either.

May as well do the 9004-9007 conversion while you're at it. Get a harness sold by NTBK on ebay. it says for 9007 upgrades, but just switch the appropriate wires and it will be a conversion harness (More detail can be found here). It's a real upgraded harness rather than an extension like what you got. It uses a couple of relays so that the majority of the power is coming straight off the battery and only enough for a signal needs to come through the stock wiring. If you hadn't cut off the stock wiring you could have just plugged it in. As it is just reconnect the "upgraded" or stock harness using crimp connections and then use the upgraded harness.

I can't stress this enough (and this isn't meant to make you look/feel like a moron) NEVER make a connection like you did. It is quite likely that that is the true reason this happened.

Good luck!!!

hey ihave one of ntbk harness, but the 9004 kind, it works good and im running over wattage bulbs and hasnt melted yet, here a link to the harness i got

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...947540094&rd=1

one thing is with the harness you loose your high/low beam and will always stay on extra high lol

I bought that harness too. So much better than Nokya. However I haven't install the harness yet. I'm still on stock harness, overwatted bulbs. Just clean and grease the bulb and harness and you're safe for overwatts.

As for the high/low problem, I think yours is incorrectly wired. I only bought the socket part of the harness and built the rest myself (solder connections, of course). Check the wiring. How many relays does it have? should be 2.

Oh, quality bulbs help too.
