He definitely deserves credit for the project, but he needs to learn some manners and stop getting so offended...it's only the internet.

To whoever was asking why he painted when he is using stock lights...I don't think he needs the lens, just the housing.

I'm not sure how he got the lense not to be clear though. Any thoughts Maxspeed96CT?

What do the 97-99 guys use once they take out the stock yellow?

This is so easy to make, im not gone hold back from you guys.
That would be like tilley doing a 3.5 swap and not telling any one about or how to do it, or someone installing a 2k manifold and not telling anyone how to do it. I think that isnt the kind of comunity we should have here on the org, we should help each other out.

I started this project before but never finished cause i bought a 99

You need a pair of stock tail lights and a set of altezzas.
1.Take apart both sets ( the oven method or heat gun method like for the 97 lights) be careful with the altezzas , they are more fragile.

2.Tape up the top half of the clear altezza lens and paint the bottom half with transpart red paint, light coats so i matches( let it dry good and becareull not to put to many coats).

3.Cut of a peice of acrelic lens(home depot lighting stuff) to put in the top half of the light, ortherwise it would be to clear and not match. (this is probubly the hardest part in the hole prosses)

4 .Then put the painted altezza lens on top of the housing from the stock tail light( you may have to dremal some edges for perfect fit).

5. Heat it back to get as it was takin apart.

6. Tape up the lights and Paint the silver band accros the side black (this is optional ).

7. folow the same prosses to the inners for a even better match (optional)

make this a sticky if you guys want!!

Thanks man. 3 was the only part I wasn't sure about. That acrelic stuff is like what's use with those ugly panel lights that get flush mounted in cielings sometimes right?

I think I'm going to try this and do a full rightup (we'll see how that goes...never tried a rightup before )

I'm surprised nobodies gone through with this before. I never would have thought of it on my own, but it really seems quite simple now that I think about it.

No, that's ok. I never said he couldn't do it. Just that he was acting like his name might imply.

I will say it again. He deserves huge credit for this.

???

What is with the constant drama/hate on this board? You'd think some people would look past the stupid **** and realize/appreciate that the 95/6 red/clears are no longer IMPOSSIBLE to own.

Fact of the matter is that looks 100x better than stock or altezzas. Sure it's not perfect, but neither were David L's. The clear lense didn't match in those either...and unless people are complete perfectionists, they look clean. Hope others can use this idea so that i don't have to look at 100x cardomain max's with fugly altezzas.

i had the same idea a long time ago but was discouraged by a fellow .org'er saying the stock lense wouldnt fit with the altezza lense. but looks like he was wrong and now i can make some clear/reds. also if these are done to the inners too i think these will cleaner even more than stock/original clear/red.(David's clear reds.)

jesus guys, serious, god forbid someone does soemthing, attempting at righting some wrongs that were thrown on him in them in past for no reason. I thought I would be somewhat courteous and share my kickass development with you, make them availbale to you guys, but no, once again, get flamed in the a$$.

seriously, this board is turning into a waste because no matter what you do, eveyone else is better than you. Like i said, i have been working on these for sometime now, no help from any of you except asking what paint. Also, if it were only an altezza lens, plenty of other people would have done it, dont you think?

secondly, i would like to deeply thank all of those who hadn't doubted me and just kept patient without the comments, you all are truly the basis of this forum. thanks guys.

thirdly, for those of you who critiqued the tails to H E L L, they were the very first, dry run set. As with any first set, there are bound to be slight, minor imperfections, and on the Version 2.0 of the lights, things will be taken care of. I know all of you couldn't wait until another set was made to wait for pictures, considering you all were pms'ing last night about it. chill out, forget whatever **** was in the past that i had nothing to do with (inless you miraculously have soem way to prove it, you cant because im not him and did nothing illegal), and accept the fact that they are finally done.

again, check my cardomain for all of the pictures, those were only three.

i want to add this:

during the daylight, the outer clear doesn't look as different that the stock one. of course, in my opinion, but ill take soem pics during the day. truthfully, the intense camera flash imbeds itself into the reflective piece and you can see the crap behind it, but daytime is much better. again, hard to see without pics, but i dont think they are as bad.

Now it's my turn to speak:

If you are not interested, don't post in this thread. If you do with more BS, I will ban you. Also, leave the tommyali crap in the other forum. It doesn't belong here.

Max_N_Action: You are on my watch list

The tails do look good and to you all talking about they don't match, when have they ever really matched? Some of you guys talk a lot of BS but lets see what you can contribute to this forum besides the childish BS. Most of you won't come up with shyte.

Man I didn't even bother to come into this thread thinking it was just another "all talk" thread. How wrong I was.

Honestly those DIY red/clears look fantastic. The only thing I would nitpick about would be the outer edge of the outside housing (grey area) but I'm sure future sets will yield an even closer factory look.

I'm not sure why so many of you are trashing the slightly mismatched pattern on the lenses. Many of the 97-99 guys with the DIY red/clear tails are slightly mismatched as well and none of you give them the third degree.

This is tons better than the factory orange, altezzas and the smoked.

like someone above me said, david L 95/96 tails weren't perfect matches either... and incase you haven't noticed, there are people making the $1.99 DIY 97+ red/clears that don't totally match either... nobody gives them 'ish about it.

they still look great, and so do the lights this guy just made. nice job buddy. I had thought about trying this a few months back, but lost interest since I already have my own david L's.

thumbs up all around

Congratulations, you have succeded where others have failed. Good job, another pioneer for future maxima parts!
They look really good, especially since they are the first draft items.
If you do decide to over look all the BS the short timers have thrown at you and decide to offer them to the public what is your ball park asking price?

Being that you're new here, you shouldn't be attacking anyone. Read the stickies for the regulations of this forum. He's clearly defending himself in a thread about red/clear tails.

just as an idea, next time you cut the clear piece, rotate it about 45 degrees so that the little squares go up & down and not diagonally, that should match much better
