So anyone do the Header Research?

Whats the expected gain from the header mod? (Ideally Cattman)
(Ideally not just peak gains, would like to see dyno chart comparisons)

I know this was a big question 6 months ago (been away) but I would like to know if anyone has data. Cheers

From what I've read the headers aren't worth the money unless you are boosted. I would still like to hear some more opinions though.

Boosted maxima's have custom made exhaust manifolds. So unless you mean supercharged it's not poosible to use cattman headers on a boosted max.

I was going to get headers but my hook-up was sold out of the powder coated headers. Depending on what kind of set-up you have w/ your engine, could give 5 to 7 hp at the wheel.

A SC car should just get a 3" exhaust. It will give better gains. Ideally if there was bigger volume headers designed for the 3" exhaust that would be great.

Our stock exhaust manifolds flow well enough. And the biggest advantage of headers is really long primaries (long tube). Since it is almost impossibly to have true long tube headers I can't see there being a great gain from it.

if money wasnt a factor i would get the headers but since it is then its hard to say. if your looking for performance from what i have seen (having both a ypipe setup and a header setup) if its just performance get a ypipe. my best 1/4 mile run was with a ypipe and with the cattman headers i was unable to match that time muchless beat it. the warmer weather has always been in the back of my mind, maybe on a cold day i would have seen a more realistic test in the two.

but even still the headers have also been one of my favorite mods, they make the vq sound super, and they change the whole feel and experience of the car.

scale - 10 = highest

performance vs ypipe: 1
overall driving experience: 9
exhaust note: 10
under the hood jewelry: 7
fitment: 10
weight savings: 3

The only way I would ever buy them again (Had them and sold them) was if I was SC or running a VQ35 or VQ30/35 hybrid. Yes they look nice and sound pretty good but for $900 after shipping you could do alot of other things. Shoot, $800 is a good place to start saving for on a basic SC set up.

They actually increase underhood temperature even with the ceramic coating compared to the stock exhaust manifolds.
