I know it belongs in the audio section, but for anybody that knows about stereo systems:

Would you rather get 2 Infinity Reference 12" subs or 1 JL Audio 15W6 sub?

The infinity's will sound better and hit better, but the JL wil be louder cuz it's bigger, right?

Re: so...

I would definetely go with the 12's but get JL 12's. Those infinity's take a lot of power to run. JL is a great quality product and isnt too exspensive. But dont get the W6's because they dont last as long as the rest of the JL's. Id go with the newer W3's those are good subs. Hope this helps. Good Luck

What kind of amp do you plan to use? The Infinity Reference series are a 4ohm Single voice coil sub. 2 of them would equal a 2 ohm load, thus you would need an amp that is 2 ohm stable.

On the other hand, a 15w6 is dual 6 ohm, meaning you can run it at either 3 ohms or 12 ohms with one sub. In this case, you would need an amp stable at 3 ohms.

How big do you want your box to be? Infinity reference series subs can work in a small sealed or ported box, where JL Audio recommends a sealed box size of between 1.25-1.75 cu.ft. and a ported enclosure size between 1.75-3.00 cu.ft.

Good Luck.

Re: Re: Re: so...

Which subs are the infinity reference? Are they the aluminum ones? I know that those require a lot more power or atleast the older ones did. I still say JL is a better brand from my experience. ANd thats what it is all about is your preference. Why ask what to get, dont let other people decide for you just get what you like. Take Care

Infinity Reference subs have a polypropylene cone, the Infinity Perfects have the aluminum cone. Perfects are fantastic subs and need about 350 watts to really hit, but ~200w will work fine.

Oh I guess it was the Perfects I was thinking about. Sorry. Any of the subs you mentioned though will sound good. Both are good brands. Good Luck

I have 2 15W6's and they have lasted. They continue to impress me.

Go with them, you won't be mad.
