differnce between YG-4 & YG-5 cattman y pipes?
ok i have a 99 FED spec and on sportcompactonly.com they show the YG-4 to be 95-99 but then they also show the YG-5 which is for 99-01 FED spec only. so what pipe is for me then? not nessesarally purchasing just wondering wtf is with this. Then at the actual cattman website it shows YG-4 being for 95-98 and the YG-5 for 99-01 FED but yet i had the older cattman which was classified as 95-99?? did they change the design or somthing for 99-01 fed pipes at cattman? havent gotten a response from brian yet but just seeing if anyone knows?? thanks -Ryan
Heres an old e-mail i found back when i first asked and bought mine. I have a '99 SE fed spec btw.
Hey Steven,
Let's make sure I know how much of the exhaust system you're looking for. I'll explain this in a way that fits all the possibilities.
First, you can't rely on where you bought the car to determine which emissions system you have. Although dealerships in California and the Northeastern states could only sell the CA/NLEV emissions cars, dealers in other states were selling from mixed inventories - CA/NLEV and Federal emissions both - so you don't know unless you look. I've attached a diagram that should make it easy to determine which system your car has.
I'll list the parts of the exhaust system you may want - some vary by emissions system, others do not.
Cattman y-pipe - if you have the Federal emissions, order part #YG5, if you have the CA/NLEV emissions, order part #YG5-CA.
Cattman Cattback Exhaust - order part #CB-G4, it doesn't matter which emissions system you have.
We're not carrying the Random Tech cat anymore, while we're switching over to a new all-metal one that will be made specifically for the Maxima. The cat is the easiest thing to install, and if you want to change it too, could be done at a later time.
Do you have any other questions?
