manual transmission decision

I have 1996 maxima with manual transmission that is going bad
so I am going to install a new manual transmission
I know that stock factory manual transmission sucks
I was wondering if anyone can help me decide what transmission to go with

THANK YOU

I didn't know that stock transmissions suck. You really don't have much of a logical choice. Try going for a 5th gen trany. A little stronger and smoother ...

Who's up for a class action suit to get new transmissions from Nissan?!?!

I might just bite the bullet and get a brand new one...they corrected the bearing preload problem, didn't they?

What signs are you getting that tell you the trans. is going bad? Leaks? Grinds?

It was pointed out in another thread that while the Altima transmissions share the same tranny code as ours, they have different input-shafts (and possibly bell housings)
