Did ur BUTT DYNO work after KS replacement?

I've read that it's a pretty impressive gain, from some people, after a KS replacement. Others claim its hardly noticeable. some say mileage went up 2 mpg, some say its like they fixed a gas leak.

Post ur experiences with mileage and performance when u fixed ur 0304 KS code. Thanks.

I havent seen a post like this, and if I did, I cant find it.

my best 1/4 mile time w/ bad ks: 15.5 @ 88mph, 2.4 60'(17" rims/intake/ypipe/80 degrees)

my best 1/4 mile time w/ new ks: 15.0 @91mph, 2.4 60'(17" rims/intake/ypipe/80 degrees)

Both runs were within 2 weeks of another and were done at the same track, Englishtown, NJ.

I felt a huge difference in power both low and high end rpms. The most noticeable difference is off the line in 1st gear. It used to feel so week I hated my car. Gas mileage also went up abougt 2mpg in my case.

btw - this is not a "mod", consider it more like maintainence.

what are the symptoms of a bad ks? I know about mpg going down, but what about in terms of power? acceleration? etc.?

I had the ghost code 0304. I replaced the KS and I felt some more power but the gas mileage didn't increase at all.

Yes it will, but they may get spooked out by it. It can be scary if you're not spiritually ready to confront it.

No' it's thrown when the knock sensor dies. This happens to just about everyone, before 100k miles.

It's an issue because the part is $100 and you risk major injury to your hands while changing it. I still have scars, both physical and emotional...

I don't believe in "feeling" the cars power. Its all metal. I need real numbers to tell me I'm going faster. When I unplugged my KS I pulled very low timing(like 17 degrees at the top of first) With it plugged in I pulled 25 degrees in the same rev band. Yet I felt no difference in power.

And I've never been able to squeal my tires when it was above 40 degrees. Is there anything wrong? I doubt it.

well ill post results when i throw the new ks on there. i got one from ebay 100 shipped. I have a meeting tomorrow at 9 am with an experienced knock sensor replacer. He's going to show me a slide show of what COULD happen to my hands. Try to scare me straight or something. I think I'll be ready after that...emotionally,mentally,mechanically, and physically

Here's some "real numbers" for you:

my best 1/4 mile time w/ bad ks: 15.5 @ 88mph, 2.4 60'(17" rims/intake/ypipe/80 degrees)

Here's more "real numbers" for you:

my best 1/4 mile time w/ 30 psi in tires: 15.5 (bone stock, first run ever)

my best 1/4 mile time w/ 25 psi in tires: 15.1 (bone stock, second run ever)

...only got to run twice that day because it was packed, sucks.

I remember when i was changing mine i cut my finger while it was in there trying to get the bolt started in the threading. I kept shoving my hand in there not knowing i sliced my finger really bad. I started noticing that the bolt kept slipping thru my fingers, i thought my hands were sweaty then i take em out and see blood ALL OVER THE DAMN PLACE. It was kinda funny, and you can still see blood stains on the engine from where it dripped everywhere, i should take pics.. haha

There is no need to subject your hands to that abuse. Removing the IM only takes 30 more minutes. You'll have a clear shot and you can file down the offensive sharp parts for possible future knock sensor issues.

Polish it, and clean out the CRAP that builds up in the EGR port while you're at it.

+1. On top of that you can accurately torque the knock sensor down properly this way. Too tight too sensitive, and vice versa.

Agree completely. Also lay wrags on top of all the sharp stuff near where your hands are going to be, and use mechanics gloves when breaking the bolt loose.
