Choices for sway bars/strut tower bars/short throw shifter?

Hi guys,

I would appreciate if you could list all the choices I/we have for sway bars, strut tower bars, and a shorter shifter. Also, if you happen to know where the best price is, that would be great too.

Regarding rear sway bars, I know of the following three:
Stillen (free S&H until the end of the month)
Addco
Progressive

Regarding strut tower bars, I know of:
Stillen

For the short throw shifter, I know of the following:
Stillen (free S&H until the end of the month)

Others? Please add to the list.

FYI: I have a 1999 Maxima SE 5-spd

Thanks in advance guys.

James

Haha...

I have a B&M short throw shifter on mine and it's pretty decent, almost hard to find the gears though because it's so short. I believe pacesetter also makes a short throw shifter. I don't know of any prices though.

Yeah this ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...&category=33591 ) is the exact front strut bar I got off of eBay. It fits perfectly and does its job just fine, I love it. All strut bars do the same thing, so my advice is don't pay too much for them.

As far as short throw shifters go, you have these choices in addition to stillen (I don't know stillen's rep, but I think it's waaaay too expensive):

B&M (or courtesy, they're the same thing) and
Pacesetter (or CustomMaxima, they're also the same thing)

A lot of people like their B&M, but people like the pacesetter too because it's adjustable.

i got it all from custom maxima and i'm pretty happy about it. The strut bar is actually pretty good quality (better than ebay) and not all that expensive. The short shifter is nice because it's not just a hacked shifter, it actually changes the pivot point. Although it isn't the full shifter assembly, it is a very cost effective solution.

Good luck with installing the shifter. It's something i would hold off on doing until you also install a y-pipe/cat, because getting the stock cat out after it has endured several years of rust is something that i had to turn to the professionals for help.

Guys, what do they mean when they say "quicker turn in due to it not having any bushings"? (See below)

Stillen Adjustable Rear Sway Bar
Description: The Stillen is the only rear sway bar that is adjustable. It is also known to have a quicker turn in due to it not having any bushings in its design. It is somewhat pricey, coming from stillen but other dealers may be able to get it slightly cheaper.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

They can all be adjusted. It depends on where you put the bushings.

It means it has a slightly faster steering response.

I know these questions have been asked a thousand times, but I can't do any research here, since the "SEARCH" feature is disabled, otherwise I would. I could spend hours, days, weeks doing research, but it only take each person a minute of thier time to help out a fellow org member. Is it really a crime to get people's input? People's experiences/opinions change with time, so asking an old question often yields different and new answers.

And why don't you suggest a rear sway bar and a short throw shifter?

Drewn, thanks for taking the time to answer my question.

you can give a man a fish and feed him for a day; you can teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. make sense of that quote, because we'd just be feeding you for a day.

Read the post above this...very insightful.

I say no RSB because with a lowered Max , I don't feel it to be necessary, especially when you add things like SFCs, LTB, bushings etc....We already have a small RSB in the beam, and a lowered Max probably just doesn't need another.
I say stock shifter because a lot of the time I'm disappointed with my B&M shifter, which has the reputation for being the best built STS, although I drove a Pacesetter and it felt nicer than my B&M. If you're gonna get one, try looking into a OEM 98/99 shifter, since I hear they have a slight bend in them that makes shifting easier, and if you want you could cut off an inch or so....
