Conversion to Leather

I'm converting my 97 from cloth to leather using a '96 max I found in a junkyard. Has anybody done this and run into any problems? I presume that the front seats are interchangeable. Has anybody converted from manual adjustable to power adjustable seats? Any tips?

I don't think there's a lot of bang-for-buck or fruits for your labor. If the cars had side air bags I would recommend not doing it, but yours don't appear to have that.

Otherwise, I would think it'd be intuitive. I've done it in Volvos before, but the rear seat was difficult to get out (lower cushion).

Worst case scenario have a 12V source so you can adjust the seat. Once you get it in the right place, you probably wont touch it again for years. That's what I find with the power seats. Although I also don't touch it because I don't want to cause my airbag lamp to start flashing.

yeah dude, it's easy. I did the whole interior a few years ago. Tan to black. Dunno about the seats tho. I'd think everything is the same as far as the track goes and as long as you have the wires it should work.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll take some before and after pictures and post them when I'm done.

There may not be alot of bang for the buck but I'm getting the entire interior, with fake wood trim and possibly Bose stereo for $175. It should be a good upgrade.

I Converted from manual cloth seats to power heated seats last month. The Seats were out of a 99 i have a 95. The only problems i ran into the driverside power harness for the power seats did not work for some reason and, the passenger side was not wired for power seats at all. So i Hardwired the seats to the car and every thing works great. if ya need any help pm me

I upgraded mine from a 96 leather to 98 leather. Front and back. Man was it easy. You can really tell between 96 and 98 leather. 98 is softer and not shinny. I still need a passenger powered seat. I'll let you know how hard going from no fogs to fogs. That is my next upgrade. I also found a 98 console which I like better than the 96. The 98 arm rest is a tad smaller than the 96 but looks much better. Have fun!
