got the pipe

Finally got a warpspeed y-pipe for the maxi , let me start by saying the sound is superb. i didnt feel the butt dyno kick in but im sure the hp is there. no bees in the can at wot , but there is a slight banging noise at idle when the car is not warmed up :/ very mild noise though. overall im pleased with it . oh btw i got a muffler shop to install it charged me $40 with about 45 minutes of labor for some reason he had trouble..

w/ a high flow cat, it should give you a good 10-15 hp though, CM reported over 20hp and trq which leaves me suspicious

I still havent gotten a pipe, and i "dont" want it to sound louder, but i wouldntmind the extra HP. This makes me wonder if it's worth it.

(I dont want it 2 b louder because I feel imports shouldnt worry about exhaust noise with the results u get...I've grown up around American muscle that makes import fart cans a laughing stock. just my 2 cents)

i'll be honest, i never have heard max with a nice setup, "but" I'm sorta prejiduce i guess cuzza all the rice out there, u no. Ispeaking of... I just saw a geo prizm today with like a 4" tip, and soem ****ty muffler LOL

i'm sure ur max sounds good...but i think what i was sayin (im notsure tho) is that a nice sound should come after nice performance... Not 200 hp That's all , i' guess im just fond of hearin the sound of thunder when i start up my 81 camaro, knowin shes got almost 400 ponies to back it up

The high flow cat makes no difference cause it makes no additional power.

^ That's lame. The only reason you feel it it's cause it's all in your head. Hell, on my auto I didn't feel the ypipe that much. On my 5spd maybe I did but the difference between the auto and the 5spd was so HUGE that I guess I couldn't really distinguish whether the y-pipe made a change. Can't feel it cause I'm not a driver? Please.

Well some people associate sound with power too and i bet you're car sounded louder after the y-pipe install, at least deeper and whatever, and if thats the case i bet everyone just associated the sound with the speed. When I got my y installed i didnt notice a big difference only thing i did notice was a lil more top end power but who knows if it was all in my head or not, not me.

My car definately sounded a bit deeper when I put it on, not loud but a bit deeper. But it also pulled a bit more also in the 3500 are and up.

what is all this talk about sound, my car sounded exactly the same as before. only sound i got was a slight beez sound which went away after a few days. other than that, there was no rumble no increase/decrease in sound. after i got the dynomax it was a different story.

then again i have my intake so if the y made a difference in noise the intake prob drowned it out.

Somebody must have taken a quater mile pass stock and then a pass with the y-pipe. Then again there are so many factors with respect to track conditions that it likely wouldn't be conclusive. I think the motorvate guy did some dyno and got pretty high numbers by adding a y.
