Clutch Slave cylinder?
Clutch Slave cylinder?
Hello Maxima owners. I have a very simple question about our slave cylinders. I am leaking brake fluid out of my hydrolic clutch system. It seems to be from slave cylinder. I am looking in my Haynes and in the car but can not tell if I could just replace rubber tubing or have to buy it as an assembly. It does not seem to be to bad after I put new fluid in and bled the system. I seem to have the same fluid in their for about a week with out any sign of a major leak. I dont want to put it off since I know it will get worse sooner or later. Plus it screwed me at the track when my clutch pedal was kind of very soft and it engaged the clutch with it being barely off the floor. This caused me to get a red light and a measley 15.2 since I could not engage 4th gear at about the 1100 ft mark. I really wanted to know my new time with y-pipe install too. I was pist since I only had a chance to run once. Couple more weeks and I will be able to beat my 15.2 stock run I had. It sucks that I ran a 15.2 stock and my first time with a y-pipe, I ran a 15.2 since I could not crab 4th. It was my own damn fault for not looking at resevour when my clutch was acting up the day before. I know some claim they can run 3rd into 1/4 mile but I definately am reving to fast for that. Maybe that is since I have a flywheel too. Thanks guys if you could help.
Find out exactly where it's leaking. If you have a good digital camera w/macro capabilities, snap some pictures of the hose and cylinder. You only have to replace what's leaking and bleed the system. Some people would advise you to replace the whole system at this point...that's up to you.
Slave Cylinder: $38.24
Master Cylinder: $71.93
Hose: $8.84
I'd recommend only changing what's leaking; don't fix what isn't broken. That's my motto.
