Grounding Kits

I am about to replace my alternator and was thinking about getting a grounding kit. I was planning on putting one together myself to save some money. What parts do i need? Also what size wire should i use? Do i use the factory grounds or all new ones?

Also what size/type alternaor do you guys recommend?

Thanks

i made my own grounding kit using 4 gauge wire and connected them to standard places.
Each time I added a wire I ran (the car) down the street and bumped the radio seeing If i could notice a difference. There was no difference when I grounded the manifold, cylinder head, transmission and headlight....when I did however ground the alternator back to the battery it was noticeable difference. The tv was brighter...no alternator hum, headlights brighter, more radio station, cleaner idle.....no hp differnce but none expected....get a good battery with CCA @800 or more and replace you battery terminals you should be fine for most audio/video apllications. good luck

radioshack using 4 gauge wiring and some terminal connectors. should be cheap.

as for alternator, spend a good amount, dont get the $99 ones with lifetime warranty, they only replace certain bushings and dont replace all the "wearable" parts.

i went to a starter/altenrator rebuild shop and bought an OEM one with replaced parts.

The dealer will want roughly $260 for an alternator... it's pricey, but it's the real deal. My only advice would be to stay away from a store brand alt (AutoZone, PepBoys) - I've seen them crap out within 2 years on multiple cars.
