those that know about manual transmissions

i am having my transmission worked on and it is near complete but when the two half come together, the guy doing the work claims that its fitting alittle bit too tight for his liking. i wasnt able to ask more about this to him, so maybe one of you guys that is fimiliar with working on trannys can tell me what are the consequences and repercusions of the two halfs fitting tight?

thanx

By half shafts do you mean the axles? How can they fit too tight? And I hope he realizes (if we are on the same page here) that auto and manual Maximas have different axles. He might have gotten the wrong one.

It doesnt sound right either way, all 4th gen manual transmissions were the same. Did you do an auto to manual swap?

nah no sway or anything like that. i had a rebuild and when putting everything back together. the proper shims had to be used and what not. now when all the parts are back together and he is closing the trans back up. the top half (bell housing) i think. seems to be fitting tight.
