Help with EGR

I have been having problems with my EGR system. The check engine light comes on with the 0302 code, goes away after one or two weeks and then comes back on again. It has been doing this since before winter. I have changed both the EGR valve and the solenoid valve but the code still comes and goes. My only option left now is to replace the vacuum lines.
Can anyone educate me on the size and length of the lines?
Someone here has to have replaced them.

I'm having the same problem and for about a year now. I'm curious to see what others will post. I have replced the EGR and solenoid valve as well to no avail. As I replaced these items I also added new vacuum lines. There are 2 things that I haven't done yet and that's test/replace the EGR temp sensor and take somewhere that has this specific injector cleaner called BG.

Thanks guys.
Dave - I will switch the lines from the solenoid valve around and see what that does.

Eric- that same thought went through my mind about the EGR temp sensor but coughing up $108 is alittle steep. Would rather try every other method first.

Knight - i saw that thread about the coil packs but i had put in new coils over the summer. So that was ruled out.

I have a 98 Maxima, around 100k I started having intermittent check light. took it to dealer, they said EGR error, not sure of code. Dealer said exhaust manifold built up of carbon. They took off and cleaned. Cost was $400. This was 18 months ago and the problem has not come back. I assume they solved the problem.

When I had my manifold off last, the EGR port in the back of the manifold was completely clogged with carbon. I would check that, but try the other things first since removing the manifold is not a real quick thing to do.
