O2 Sensor Fuse???

My SES light had been on for awhile, and i got the code checked, and it was one of my front o2 sensors. So i had the light on for awhile because the funds werent there for a new one.

Then, the other day i was checking fuses, and i happened to see my o2 sensor fuse was blown. I replaced it, and reset the ecu, and the SES light has not come back for 2.5 days now.

Does that mean the light was on because of the fuse? and if so, why did the fuse blow? If not, why did the fuse blow?

hey -- doesn't mean the O2 is fixed...give it some more time.
I've constantly been resetting my CEL lately for a bad rear O2, but my fuel economy isn't indicative of an O2 issue.

Basically, here's my rule of thumb on ANY CEL:

1) find code
2) reset
3) wait and see if code reappears

If it DOES reappear, I replace the part/sensor
If it DOESN'T reappear, then I assume that it was a one-time screw up.

For example, if you go on a high-speed run, I ALWAYS get a CEL for an O2 sensor...but, I reset it and it doesn't come back on...

BUT, I'm happy that there's an O2 fuse!
I'll check that tomorrow (when I get my car back)

why dont you come here for once? and its not my rear o2 sensor, its one in my front bank. So i figure ill let the ecu set off another cel before i got to replace it.

A blown fuse may have caused the CEL to go off.
The fuse may have been blown due to a surge or a short on one of the wires of the rear O2. The rear O2 sensor only checks if the main catalyst is working or not. I doesn't affect drivability. If the code doesn't reappear, LEAVE IT. If it does, check for a short if the fuse pops again. If it isn't the fuse then fork over the $150 for the part.

150 for an o2 sensor??? and you guys keep talking about the rear o2 sensor, the code wasnt for a rear o2 sensor.

and joosdawg, i'm not shelling out 60-80 bucks for something if i dont have to right now. we're not all made of money big pimpin. I've got a big driveway for some work to get done, whatever work you need. No lift for me, the cheap one i bought no longer works, so i just use my friends here.

we've got a garage, not huge, but big enough to get the job done. 2 car. And the CEL hasnt came back yet, so im thinking it was just the fuse, even though i have no idea why itd blow.
